Kenneth Ralph Bunney was born on 22nd August 1913 at Crofton Park, South East London. He was educated at the local council school, and then at Brockley County School. His sport was rugby.

On leaving school, he joined the Pearl Assurance Co., and worked in an office in Holborn, London. Here he met the lady who was to become his wife.

His main spare time interests were cycling, sea fishing, and motorcycle sports.

At the outbreak of war, he joined the RAFVR and, on completion of training, was drafted to Bomber Command.

He did two tours of operations - 62 sorties - and then a period of air-sea rescue.

In early 1944, he joined 161 Special Duties Squadron, and was killed on 5/6 July. He is buried at Makkum, Holland.
